[Class 97 (i)] Holders for a pair of vehicle head lamps are adjusted in position with the aid of two units, each attachable to one of the holders and carrying a spirit level or gravity-operated indicator for determining the vertical tilt of the holder, and also carrying means, sueh as a light projector operating in conjunction with a target screen on the other unit, to determine the positions of the holders relative to a line extending between them. Fig. 4 shows a holder 10, adjustably held in a housing 12, to support a reflector lamp as described in Specification 515,091, [Group XI]. A unit, Fig. 2, comprises a plate 19 having lugs 20 and shoulders 21 shaped to engage the rim of the holder 10 and recesses therein, and may be attached to the holder by a hook 23 on an arm 22 held to the plate 19 by a coiled spring 26. Each unit carries a spirit level 30 adjustable in inclination relatively to its supporting bar 29, and also a light projector 34 capable of throwing an image of crossed hair lines on to a target screen 35 carried by the other unit ; calibrations may be provided in conjunction with the spirit levels and the target screens. In a modification, the projectors 34 are replaced by a sighting hole in the bar 27, by an inclined mirror beneath it, and by a vertical hair line carried by the bar 29. In further modifications, the units are connected by a cross-bar and are separately angularly adjustable relatively thereto, or are connected by a wire held taut by a weight at one end. The hooked arm 22 may be replaced by the ring subsequently used to clamp the lamp in the.holder 10, the plate 19 being shaped accordingly.
