Abstract

732,177. Resilient mountings. SOC. APPLICAZIONI GOMMA ANTIVIBRANTI S.A.G.A. SOC. PER AZIONI. April 21, 1953 [Jan. 2, 1953], No. 10991/53. Class 108 (3). The invention relates to a resilient mounting comprising two rigid members 11, 12 (Fig. 3), an intervening rigid link 13 and two resilient members 14, 15 intervening between the link and its respective ends and the members 11, 12, the arrangement being such that relative movement of the members 11, 12 is possible, in three principal directions X, Y, Z mutually orthogonal to one another, relative movement in the direction X producing torsional shear stress unaccompanied by other forms of stress, in at least one (14) of the resilient members. According to the invention, the distance between the two members 14, 15 and their respective yieldabilities, is such, that the flexibility of the support in one, or other, or both, of the directions X, Z, substantially exceeds the flexibility of the support in the direction Y. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, one of the two relatively movable members (not shown) to be connected by the mounting, is rigid with a sleeve 6 of a rubber-bush mounting 6, 7, 8, and the other is connected to a member 11. Shear sandwich blocks 10, 10<SP>1</SP> connect the member 11 to a yoke 9 carried by the inner member 8 of the mounting 6, 7, 8. In a modification of Fig. 3 (Fig. 1, not shown), the member 13 is a flat plate (instead of having its operative ends disposed at right-angles as shown).
