Abstract
683,677. Indicating-apparatus. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. May 21,1951, No. 11827/51. Class 106 (iv). [Also in Group XXXII] In a measuring instrument in which the restoring force is provided by a torsion member, the latter is varied in crosssection so as to be relatively stiff in torsion at the points where it is secured and relatively flexible between such points, so that substantially all the strain takes place remote from the securing points. As shown, the ends 8 of the spring are of circular crosssection and are fastened to members 3 by soldering or spot welding. The intermediate part 9 of the spring is flat in cross-section and may be so formed before or after mounting of the spring. In another arrangement the spring may comprise a plurality of flattened sections 9 interconnected by circular sections 8. The end sections of the spring may be angular in cross-section.
