Abstract
730,405. Magnetic separators. VEITSCHER MAGNESITWERKE AKT.-GES. Oct. 20, 1952 [Oct. 19, 1951], No. 26319/52. Class 117. Loose material slides down an inclined shoot 1 whereby a lateral movement is imparted to the material as it falls and the material is directed against a non - magnetic guide surface 3 underneath the poles of a stationary electromagnet system 2. The guide surface is inclined to the pole-face so that the magnetic attraction on the stream decreases along its path. The inclination of the shoot, magnet, and guide are adjustable to suit the material size and ferrous content. A preliminary magnet 11 may be provided at the foot of the shoot to remove iron particles from the ferrouscontaining material. Modifications:-(i) Instead of inclining the guide surface to the pole faces, a number of electromagnets of different strength may be arranged along the guide surface, Fig. 2 (not shown); or (ii) the guide surface may be curved or stepped, Fig. 3 (not shown).
