Abstract
729,997. Vehicle windows. AUTO UNION GES. Nov. 13, 1953 [Nov. 15, 1952], No. 31543/53. Class 20 (3). A substantially triangular shaped pane 3 having a frame 6 is mounted in a front, or rear, side door of a vehicle by means of an upper universal joint 9 and jointed levers 7, 8 at each lower corner of the frame. This arrangement allows the window to be swung outwardly about an approximately vertical axis passing through the rear edge of the frame 6 for introducing fresh air into the interior of the vehicle or, about an inclined axis passing through the forward inclined edge of the frame 6 for withdrawing air from the vehicle or, as shown through a horizontal axis Z-Z passing through the joint 9 for the introduction, or extraction of air. The arms of the levers 7, 8, resilient to allow for twisting, also incorporate holding means to secure the window in the desired position. In a modification the arms of the levers 7, 8 are relatively inflexible, the connections to the frame 6 in this case accommodating the complex movements of the window.
