A waste-disposal unit adapted to be supported below a sink and adjustable to adapt it to existing waste-pipe connections comprises a primary housing 30, containing motordriven comminuting means, and a secondary housing 50 sealed relatively to the housing 30 by means of a resilient ring 58, the housing 50 being adjustable relatively to a threaded flanged collar 14 disposed in the sink aperture 12, and the housing 30 being adjustable relatively to the housing 50 by means 'of threaded bolts 28 passing through lugs 40, 52 in the housings 30, 50 respectively, the upper ends of the bolts bearing against sockets 26 in a pressure plate 24.
