In a mine-face conveyer of the kind having a stationary trough, one side wall of which on the " loading " side is comparatively low and the other side wall of which, on the " goaf " side, is heightened so as to increase the conveyer capacity, the heightened side wall comprises spaced supports connected to the wall of the trough at the " goaf " side and extending above said wall and plate or like members, the supports and plate members being so constructed and provided with co-operating fastening means that the said members can be detachably connected to the supports so as to be located above and form an upward extension of the said wall and so that the width of the conveyer is not increased otherwise than by and at the positions of the supports, while at the same time a space is left between the plate members and the supports through which cables or the like can be laid and in which they will be shielded by the said plate members. The Figures show a trough for an endless scraper conveyer comprising walls 1, 2 connected by a plate 3. Supports 9 provided with hookshaped members 10, 11, 12 are secured at intervals along the trough by pins 8 passing through holes in lugs 9a on the supports 9 and holes 7a in plates 7 welded in the groove 6 in the wall 2. Plates 13 are mounted on these supports by bending their edges 14, 15 over the hook-shaped members 10, 12 respectively and are secured by split-pins 19 passing through holes 18 in lugs 17 welded to the plates 13 and through holes in the hook members 11. Pipes and cables 21 are supported in the channel 20 between the plates 13 and supports 9, whilst signal or control wires 22 are guided through eye-bolts 23 on the supports 9.
