Abstract

728,811. Hand cranks. AUTO SPECIAL. TIES MANUFACTURING CO. Feb. 23, 1951 [Sept. 14, 1950], No. 4464/51. Class 136(2). [Also in Group XXX] A hand crank for operating a screw jack (see Group XXX) may assume either the full line operative position or the chain dotted stowing position. This crank comprises a straight portion 110 having at one end a U -bend, Fig. 4, the limb 100 of which passes through the end of the screw 86 and is secured thereto by a washer 104 and pin 700, and the limb 108 of which is adapted to engage the screw and support the crank in its operative position, but which, on rotating the crank about the axis of limb 100, allows the crank to assume its stowed position. The free end of the crank has an upstanding portion 112, Fig. 3, with a peened top 120 to retain a rotatable handle comprising a sleeve 116 and a cap 118.
