Abstract

939,038. Clothes lines. S. S. W. JONES. Nov. 17, 1961 [Dec. 1, 1960; May 15, 1961], Nos. 41391/60 and 17622/61. Class 52 (5). A clothes line device has a casing in which is mounted a roller 6 having a rotatable shaft 8 with handle 9 and on which are wound cords 15 secured to a common cross-bar 16, the end of the roller 6 carrying a ratchet wheel 10 which engages a pawl 11 which can be released by a coned cam 14 on shaft 8 when the latter is pushed inwardly. In a modification, Fig. 7, the pawl which is in the form of a cranked rod 24 can be lifted by a crank 25.
