Abstract

584,163. Indicators for switches. SATCHWELL, L., WILSON, W. A., and CHINN, A. J. Dec. 4, 1944, No. 24239. [Class 38 (v)] Fig. 1 shows a rotary switch handle 6 provided with a small translucent surface 1 arranged to receive illumination from a fixed lamp 8 through a refractive or reflecting surface, e.g., a conical surface 2. The surfaces 1, 2 may be at opposite ends of a rod 3 of glass &c. In a modification, Fig. 2, the axially arranged translucent rod 5 has a bevelled surface 10 and rotates with the handle 6. Rotation of the handle 6 in either form varies the intensity of illumination of the surface 1, 11 and by interposing a fixed colourgraded screen 4, 13 between the lamp 8, 9 and the surface 2, 10 the colour of the latter may also be varied.
