Abstract
728,681. Pliers. CHURCHILL & CO., Ltd., V. L. Sept. 18, 1953 [Oct. 3, 1952], No. 24813/52. Class 61. Pliers for use in contracting internal circlips and expanding external circlips comprise three handles so that by selective use of one or other of the outside handles with the central one, the central handle may be squeezed by hand in either direction whereby opening or closing of the jaws can be selectively obtained. As shown the outer handles a and c are rigid bifurcations of the part d, the central handle b being pivoted at e to the composite handle a, d, c and having a forward part f. Primary jaws d and f are thus provided which are drawn together on squeezing together the handles a and b and are forced apart by squeezing together the handles band c. In order that the operative ends may remain more nearly parallel in action, secondary jaws g and h, pivoted together at j, are pivoted to the primary jaws at m and n. Detachable tips o<SP>1</SP>, o<SP>2</SP> of cylindrical, conical, square or other cross-section are fixed as by grub screws, V-slots or otherwise or they may be screwed in. The handles are suitably covered with non-slip material.
