728,100. Cable-end sleeves; cable joints. TELEGRAPH CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE CO., Ltd. March 19, 1953 [March 19, 1952], No. 7683/53. Classes 36 and 38 (1). A cable-end sleeve g or joint construction for a metal-sheathed cable is formed of high-grade dielectric material about the end of the cable sheath c and enclosed in a non-inflammable organic insulating covering h. The covering h may comprise a casing in the form of a double cone (Fig. 6) and may be in two pieces 9, 10. It may be secured to the outer insulating covering d of the cable by a rubber band 14, filled with molten dielectric material which is allowed to set, and closed by a cap 12. Alternatively, the casing may comprise one or more cylindrical members 16 (Fig. 8) provided with extensions 15, or the sleeve g may be covered with one or more coatings of a non-inflammable varnish or lacquer, or with a non-inflammable insulating tape.
