Abstract
728,053. Voltage measurements. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 11, 1952 [Jan. 20, 1951], No. 897/52. Addition to 727,133, [Group XL (a)]. Drawings to Specification. Class 37. [Also in Group XL (a)] In the visual tuning indicator of the parent Specification in which the cathode is arranged eccentrically in a bowl-shaped anode and is associated with a deflector electrode, a second deflector electrode is added so that the tube can indicate the presence of two separate signals. The two deflecting electrodes, which may be rods or strips, are disposed symmetrically on either side of a diametral plane of the anode which also passes through the cathode. The cathode may be surrounded by a grid and an additional rod electrode may be placed between the grid and deflectors to reduce interaction between the two deflecting fields. The additional electrode is at cathode potential. The anode may be calibrated with markings which increase or decrease its luminescence, or may be provided with a luminescent coating of a second colour at the separation zone between the two indicating areas. Alternatively, the division between the two areas may be made by allowing a narrow electron beam to pass between the two deflecting electrodes and so produce a luminous line in the centre of the shadow area.
