[Also in Group XXXII] A stretcher support 4 in a ship's compartment is provided with a front extension 16, has its rear end supported on springs 5 in bent guides 6, 7, and is carried in the middle by telescopic rods 8, 9 pivoted to the support and to the deck head. The rods 8, Fig. 3, are provided with hooks 10 adapted to engage rods 11 when the support is in the full line 'operative position, Fig. 1, the rods 11 being attached to a spring-biased plate 12. The stretcher may be lowered from the full line position by pulling a wire 14 to rotate the plate against the spring and withdraw the rods 11 to release the hooks 10. The support may be pushed upwardly on the guides 6, 7 to assume the dotted stowed position, the rods 8 being locked by the rods 11, and is held at its front end by a strap 18.
