Abstract
738,459. Clamp fastenings. CARLSEN, J. Oct. 1, 1953 [Oct. 3, 1952], No. 26919/53. Class 44. [Also in Group VIII] In a collapsible ironing board having associated therewith a seat for receiving a flat iron in a position below the surface of the ironing board for storage, the seat is formed on the bottom of a hinged cover 30 covering an opening 29 in the board 1 and having its top shaped to form a support for the hot iron when in use. The toe 37 of the iron is supported by an inclined member 36 and the rear end 39 by a hook member 38 pivoted at 40 and urged towards the iron by a spring 41. The cover 30 is hinged at 31 and provided with a rotatable knob 32 for securing it in its closed position. In order to store the iron, the cover 30 is first opened and the iron placed in position on supports 34, 35, the hook member being pulled back against the action of spring 41. When the cover is closed again, a member 43 prevents release of the hook member 38.
