Abstract

724,879. Thermionic valves. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Aug. 28, 1953 [Sept. 2, 1952], No. 23825/53. Class 39 (1). In a discharge tube having two part-cylindrical grids 5, a common screen grid 8, and two semi - cylindrical anodes 9 surrounding a common cathode 4, the grids and cathode being supported at one end only of the assembly, the anodes are united at the other end, so that they form in effect a cylinder with two diametrically opposed cuts 10 along the greater part of its length. The anodes are supported from a cylinder 11 of smaller diameter, lined with copper, which passes through the tube wall, and contains a coaxial conductor with a coupling loop 14. Cooling fins 15 may be provided. The tube is used on decimeter wavelengths, at anode voltages of from several hundred to more than a thousand.
