Abstract

724,613. Valve circuits. BRITISH ACOUSTIC FILMS, Ltd. June 16, 1953, No. 16551/53. Class 40 (6). In a thermionic valve amplifier of type having its input stage, H.T. and filament circuits fed with power from a supersonic oscillator, the oscillator also provides the grid bias for the output stage. The Figure shows an amplifier comprising an input stage V1 feeding a pushpull output stage V2A, V2B. In accordance with Specification 665,967 the H.T. and heater supply for V1 is derived from a conventional supersonic oscillator V3 and V1 is coupled to the output stage through a balanced transformer so that hum pick-up from the mains supply feeding the oscillator and output stage is minimized. The grid bias for the output stage is obtained either from the grid-bias circuit C14, R15 of the oscillator or from a rectifier coupled to the output of the oscillator (Fig. 3, not shown). When the amplifier is used for reproducing film or magnetic tape recordings the oscillator may also supply the power for the lamp or the bias and erase voltages.
