Abstract
906,512. Automatic voltage control systems; inductors. MULTITONE ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 16, 1960 [Aug. 21, 1959], No. 28697/59. Classes 38 (2) and 38 (4). [Also in Group XL (c)] In a transistor amplifier (see Group XL (c)), the first stage draws its power from and so modulates the amplitude of oscillation of, the second stage which comprises an oscillator. In one modification the transistor oscillator T10, Fig. 4, draws its supply from the collector circuit of a transistor rectifier T11, via resistor R18, rectifier X2 and smoothing condenser C10, providing a D.C. negative feedback circuit which maintains the mean amplitude of oscillation constant. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) in which the oscillator is followed by a high-frequency amplifier, the mean amplitude of oscillation is maintained constant by feeding the oscillator from the negative supply via a resistor and from the collector circuit of the high frequency amplifier via a rectifier. A mechanical negative feedback arrangement may also be used; in this the rectified output current of the system is passed through a moving coil C working in the gap of a magnet A and operating a recording stylus G. The moving coil C is also coupled to a nickel silver disc H which provides variable damping on the oscillatory circuit which is wound on a ferrite core K.
