Abstract
1,073,206. Valve amplifying circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 27, 1966 [April 30, 1965], No. 18429/66. Heading H3W. A valve-output stage of the single-ended push-pull type is reflexed to act also as an I.F. amplifier. Valves 1, 7 are series-connected via resistor 6, valve 7 being driven from the voltage developed across this resistor by returning its grid to the anode of valve 1; the output is taken from the cathode of valve 7 or a tapping on resistor 6, via D.C. blocking capacitor 8. In addition to the audio signal applied to valve 1 via capacitor 2, an I.F. signal is applied via tuned transformer 10 and capacitor 12. The valve 7 is driven from the I.F. signal developed across resistor 6, its cathode being earthed at these frequencies by means of capacitor 13: an I.F. output is taken from the anode by means of tuned transformer 14. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the valves are in cascade connection for I.F. signals, the grid of the second valve (19) being earthed at I.F. by a capacitor (22) and obtaining bias from resistor (6) by means of a grid leak (21); to enable the cathode to be driven an I.F. choke (24) is interposed in the output lead to the loud-speaker.
