Abstract

724,365. Seats. CONSOLIDATED VULTEE AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. July 10, 1953 [May 18, 1953], No. 19201/53. Class 52 (2). Relates to seats particularly for use in aircraft, the seat backs being angularly adjustable and the seats adapted for ready fixing and removal from the aircraft. As shown, a double seat comprises a seat frame having front and rear members 26, 30, cross-members 31, 32, 33, the member 33 being of box section and adapted to be bolted to the aircraft wall while the inner side member 31 is provided with posts 34, 35 securable to the floor by means of connectors 82 comprising a ferrule 83, Fig. 4, and double-ended threaded bolt 91 ... 93 which is bolted to the ferrule but is rotatable to engage a rigid nut 102 secured to the floor 100. The seat frame is also provided with telescopic locking means 24, 25 operable from arm rests and connected to downward extensions of the back rests. The back rests 21, 22 comprise a back plate of channel section bent to U-shape and provided with a peripheral flange and with a front pan plate 113 secured to such flange. The back rests are provided with lower tube members which carry sliding spring-controlled pins acting as pivots for the back rests engaging the bearings 103 ... 105 of the seat frame.
