702,129. Seats. SIEPRATH, H. May 22, 1953 [May 23, 1952], No. 14463/53. Class 52(2) A vehicle seat, of the type such as is shown in Fig. 1 wherein the back frame 1- is pivoted to the base frame at 2, 3 in order that it may be tilted forwardly to permit access to the rear seat and which normally rests on abutments 7 forming part of the rear tubular member 6 of the seat frame, is modified so that the fixed abutments 7 are replaced by a removable rod 8 inserted in one or each end of the member 6 so that on removal the back frame 1 may be swung backwardly to rest on the rear seat to provide a recumbent position of rest for the driver. The rod 8 may protrude from both ends of the member 6 or may comprise two separate rods 8 each having a flange 11 and desirably an eccentric bearing part 12 for the back frame 1. Rotation of the rod 8 to various positions provides adjustment to the back frame 1 and to this end a projection 13 on the flange 11 may be inserted into any one of a number of notches 15 formed on the end of the tubular member 6.
