The vertical support or supports 2 for a seat back havetheir lower ends mounted in resiliently deformable rubber or like bushes 6 carried by the seat frame. Preferably a support tube 2 has a rigidly connected metal ferrule 11 with an hexagonal periphery fitting into a similarly shaped socket in the rubber bush which is non-rotatably secured in an apertured plate 3 by a locking ring 16 and interposed rubber washer 15.
