Abstract
724,203. Valves. ELECTRAULIC PRESSES, Ltd. Jan. 16, 1953 [Feb. 16, 1952], No. 4174/52. Class 135. An emergency stop valve in a line supplying secondary pressure liquid to operate, e.g. the main valve controlling the supply and exhaust of primary pressure liquid to an hydraulic press, comprises a valve member 2 having an end 2<SP>2</SP> acted upon by the secondary pressure liquid supplied through a port 11 and exhausted through a port 12 in opposition to a spring- loaded plunger 5 operatively connected to the valve member by a lever 4 having a cam surface 4<SP>2</SP> and a lever 3 mounting a cam-follower 3<SP>2</SP>. Should the secondary pressure fail or fall below a predetermined value, the plunger 5 urged outwards by its spring will rotate the levers clockwise to close the valve. A second spring- loaded plunger 6 may be depressed in an emergency to close the valve. The valve member 2 is formed with an enlarged diameter portion 2<SP>1</SP> and may be closed, e.g. by the transmission through a port 13 of overblow primary pressure from a relief valve associated with the press. The valve will remain closed until reset by depression of the plunger 5. Connection 14 is open to exhaust.
