Abstract

723,900. Typewriters. TITCOMBE, C. S. Feb. 4,1953 [Feb. 7, 1952], No. 3205/52. Class 100 (4). In a mechanism for feeding multiple paper sheets interleaved by carbon sheets to a typewriter, tabulating or like machine, the carbon sheets are constantly fed simultaneously with but at a slower rate than the associated paper sheets. As shown, the paper sheets in the form of continuous webs hare guided over rods k so that they are interleaved with the carbon strips i which are wound on shafts j driven by reduction gearing s from a shaft c carrying pinwheels e feeding the webs h. The webs h and carbon strips i are guided'to the platen b via a guide m and after passing the pin-wheel e the webs h are led out of the mechanism over rods p and the carbon strips are wound on spindles q driven by gears t from the shafts j. In a modification the shafts are rotated from worm gears on a shaft driven by bevel gearing from the shaft c. The Provisional Specification refers to the reduction of speed of the carbon strip relative to the webs as being in the ratio of 1.50 and that the carbon strips may also be fed by pin wheels.
