944,097. Typewriters &c. ALACRA Ltd. March 14, 1961 [Dec. 14, 1959], No. 42467/69. Heading B6F. A manifolding machine having a pin feed for the stationery at or beyond the platen, and a mechanism to release the transfer webs for feeding by the stationery but at a lower speed, is provided with arrangements for feeding two sets of webs side-by-side around the platen so that the same or different matter may be typed separately on the two sets of webs. The typing on both sets may be effected simultaneously or in turn. The two sets of webs may be fed at different speeds. In one form, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown) a pin-wheel beyond the platen for feeding one set of webs may be driven by gearing from the platen and coaxial pin-wheels for the other set may be driven by separate mechanism as described in Specification 887,324. The carbon-release mechanism may be as described in Specification 848,797. In another construction, Fig. 4, one set of webs 30 is fed by pinwheels 31 embodied in the platen 32 and operated for projection of the pins as described in Specification 408,125. The other set 36 is fed by pin-wheels 39 on the infeed side of the platen and pin-wheels 40 on the outfeed side. The pin-wheels for the set 36 can be driven from the platen or by mechanism as employed for driving the summary-web feed shaft in Specification 887,324. The two sets of webs may overlap as they pass around the platen, each set having its own pin-wheel feed beyond the platen, and the shafts of the pin-wheels may be driven from the platen or by mechanism as described in Specification 887,324 for driving the summary-web shaft. Simultaneous printing may be effected on the overlapping parts. Further the two sets of carbon webs may be mounted on a common shaft situated to one side of the record webs and having a single release control mechanism, the carbon webs being turned through 90 degrees into alignment with their respective sets of record webs as described in Specification 941,881. Feeding means may be provided on the infeed side of the platen for the faster-moving set of webs or where the webs move at a speed different from that of the platen.
