Abstract

848,918. Typewriters &c. LAMSON PARAGON Ltd. March 5, 1958 [Dec. 5, 1956; May 28, 1957], Nos. 37235/56 and 16965/57. Class 100(4) Apparatus for feeding a continuous web of stationery in a typewriter, tabulator, addressing or like office imprinting machine comprises a solenoid S for effecting a single or multiple line spacing feed at the completion of each line of imprinting and a motor M connected by a clutch C to the web drive to effect a long feed. When the next imprinting portion of the web reaches a platen 1 the clutch C is disengaged and a brake B engaged to stop the feed. After a further single line spacing feed by the solenoid S imprinting is resumed. The motor M may operate continuously or be started and stopped by signals from the imprinting machine when a long feed is required but in any event the signal ensures that the motor is rotating at its full operating speed when the clutch C is engaged. Variable line spacing can be effected by the solenoid S a selector switch being provided which, when another switch is closed at the completion of a line, can be set to give any number of line spacings which is a factor of twelve.
