In an apparatus for feeding superposed record webs a relatively to interleaved carbon transfer webs b round the platen of a tabulator, typewriter or the like, two web feeding means are provided having feed pins 9 engageable with marginal apertures in the record webs, one feeding means 6 being mounted at the infeed side of the platen to push the webs in a straight line path to the platen, and the other, 5, mounted at the outfeed side to pull the webs away from the platen in a straight line path after they have been fed round the platen, both feeding means being simultaneously operated at the same speed and so positioned that the portion of the webs between the feed means is maintained in a relatively slack condition so that as they are fed round the platen they are sufficiently loosely disposed relatively to the platen and the transfer webs to permit their free feeding movement round the platen relatively to the transfer webs. The feed means may form an integral part of the machine, or may be supplied as a unit A to be detachably mounted on the machine. The webs a are normally fed large increments at each feed movement into imprinting position corresponding to a form length, but in order that the whole area of the transfer webs may be used the record webs are fed relatively to the transfer webs, thus the transfer webs, may remain stationary during several feed movements of webs a. The spaced pairs of endless tractors 5 and 6 are supported on rods extending between side plates 2, 3, and each tractor includes rotatable sprocket wheels 7 which drive endless chains 8 carrying the projecting feed pins 9. The tractors are driven from a gear 10, secured coaxially with platen 1 through gears 11, 12, 13 to pinions 15, 15a on shaft 14 extending transversely across the unit. Pinion 15 drives tractor 5, and pinion 15a through 16, 18, 19, 20 drives shaft 21 with the sprocket for tractor 6. The necessary slack is obtained by adjustment of one of the tractors, as by means of a coupling disc or sleeve keyed to shaft 14 and connected to pinion 15a by screws through slots 23, so that the pinion may be adjusted relatively to the shaft.
