Abstract
723,597. Gas producers. POWER-GAS CORPORATION, Ltd. Aug. 31, 1953, [Sept. 4, 1952.] No. 22229/52. Classes 55 (1) and 55 (2). In carburetted water gas plant blow gases with secondary air pass downwardly both through a carburetter 12 and a single superheater 13 and up-run gas to which oil &c. is added co-currently or counter-currently follows the same course. The superheater is disposed below the carburetter which in the form shown comprises an inlet chamber 34 containing chequer bricks 30 separated by an arch 29 from a lower empty chamber 35 having oil nozzles 31. Secondary air is admitted to the blow gases through a conduit 26 and scurfing air may also be radially or tangentially introduced into chamber 35. A back-run period may be included in the cycle with steam superheated by being supplied to the base of the superheater. A single vessel may house both carburetter and superheater, downwardly directed nozzles being disposed in the arch between the packed and unpacked portions of the carburetter. Instead of a producer embodying a distillation retort 11 and vertical ducts 16 leading to an annular chamber 15 connected to the carburetter, an ordinary water gas producer may be employed.
