Abstract
240,665. Glasgow, A. G. Nov. 3, 1924. Producers.-Blue water gas produced during part of a run is passed through a boiler or other heat absorber and thereafter mixed with carbnretted gas produced during the remainder of the run. In a plant not adapted for back running, the gas made on the up-run is led through a pipek, Fig. 1, to the top of the boiler d and through the wash-box p to the holder, and the down-run gas is carburetted in a chamber b and led from the superheater c through a pipe n to the holder. Alternatively, the up-run gas may be carburetted and the down-run blue gas passed through the boiler; or blue gas- 'from up and down runs may pass through the boiler, and then up and down run gas may be carburetted; or blue gas may pass through the carburettor without addition of oil. In a plant adapted for back-running, a steam jet t, Fig. 3, is arranged in the pipe m connecting the superheater c and the boiler, and a valve s is provided to enable some of the gas to be circulated with the steam. In a modification, separate boilers are provided respectively for the blow gas and blue water gas. In another modification, adapted for the recovery of heat from down-run gas, a checker-work chamber is arranged below the grate nf the producer. Specification 234,929 is referred to.
