A paper. cutter is combined with a writing instrument, a portion of the writing instrument being formed with a groove in which is housed a cutter extending along but free of the groove and the cutting edge of which faces the bottom of the groove and extends obliquely thereto to form a cutting angle suitable for the cutting of paper. As shown in Fig. 2, the cap a of a fountain pen is provided with a groove b in which a cutter c is secured. The cutting edge of the cutter forms an acute angle with the bottom of the groove b, the breadth of which is greater at the end corresponding to the tip of the cutter than at the other end, which carries projections b<SP>1</SP>. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4, e designates the upper end of a metal pencil which is provided with a tapped bore in which is screwed a cutter holder f. The holder f is provided with a groove g, and a longitudinal groove b, both in the same place. The groove b serves to secure therein a paper cutter i which is held by its arm il lodged in the groove b. The arm il is provided with teeth corresponding to those on the cutter holder f. A transverse bore g is provided in order to allow dust and the like to be blown out. A conventional clip k is held fast by engagement with the cutter holder f. The cutter may be located at a higher level, Fig. 6 (not shown), so that the tip thereof may be used for perforating paper.
