Abstract

723,388. Railway rail base-plates. GUEST, KEEN & NETTLEFOLDS (MIDLANDS), Ltd. Sept. 16, 1953 [Sept. 23, 1952], No. 23769/52. Class 104 (2). A railway rail base-plate 10 consists of a square or rectangular metal plate, the corners of which are bent over to form projections 15 which can be driven into the sleeper so as to hold the plate 10 in position. The outer faces 16 of the projections 15 are machined flat to increase their pointedness. The rail 11 is held in position by spikes 17 driven into the sleeper 14 through holes in the plate 10. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the rail-flangesupporting portion of the upper surface of the plate 10 is inclined.
