Abstract
723,302. Knitting. COLE, B. T. R. REYMES-. May 28, 1949 [Dec. 31, 1948], No. 33698/48. Divided out of 723,301. Class 74 (2). In a circular machine in which the independent needles are all mounted in the same bed, so as all to draw loops in the same direction when active and in which the stitch length is determined by relative loop drawing movement between such needles and yarn engaging devices alternating therewith, fashioning needles interspersed among non-fashioning needles have their tracks disposed out of the circle of the non-fashioning needles and arranged in such staggered relationship with respect to the tracks of the non-fashioning needles that the linear spacing between each pair of adjacent active needles during their looping drawing movements is substantially the same irrespective of whether or not the fashioning needles are active. The invention is applicable to machines operating as in Specification 723,301. As shown, fashioning needles 2f and non- fashioning needles 2nf are carried in tricks 3f, 3nf of unequal depths. When the fashioning needles are in a 1 Î 1 sequence, as shown, any three consecutive needles lie at the corners of an equilateral triangle 4, but every third needle may be a fashioning needle.
