Abstract

Oil-soluble resinates of lead, silicon, boron, mercury, silver and bismuth are made by treating, with Venice turpentine, lead acetate, silicon chloride, boric acid, mercurous oxide, silver carbonate and bismuth oxide, respectively.ALSO:A liquid burnish gold for decorating heat resistant bases such as glass, china and earthenware, comprises gold powder in suspension in a solution, e.g. of essential oils, of a flux and adhesion promoting agent comprising one or more oil-soluble, sulphur-free resinates of lead, bismuth, boron and silicon. The liquid compositions may also contain extenders, e.g. soluble mercury resinates and colour improvers such as soluble silver resinate. Other optional additives specified are camphor, asphalt, ethylene glycol and coumaroneindene. Oils specified are those of turpentine, linseed, castor, pine and eucalyptus. Specification 641,525, [Group XV], is referred to.ALSO:Gold powder is made by reducing gold chloride by formaldehyde or phenylhydrazine.
