Abstract

720,041. Stuffing-box substitutes. MAY. HEW, J. H. April 28, 1952 [May 31, 1951], No. 10682/52. Class 122 (5). [Also in Group II] In a centrifugal separator dust is prevented from passing to the cleaned gas collector 25 by a sealing chamber 23 surrounding the rotary tube 20 supplying gas to the chamber. The interior of the separator shown in Fig. 1 is at a slight negative pressure and air at pressure is supplied to the chamber 23 by a blower B. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the interior of the separator is at a slight pressure and a suction is applied to the chamber.
