719,928. Motor vehicles. BARENYI, B. Nov. 15, 1950 [Jan. 26, 1949], No. 9414/53. Divided out of 710,935. Classes 79(3) and 79(4) [Also in Group XXXII] In a motor vehicle having its frame divided into parts along its length an end part carrying two wheels is connected to an adjoining part by hinge means, the parts having resilient abutment means above the hinge means. The resilient abutment means are stated to assist the vehicle spring- ing allowing very soft springing to be achieved and improving the riding properties of the vehicle over rough surfaces. As shown the invention is applied to a motor vehicle formed of a middle cell A, and end cells B, C, the cells having frame parts a, b, c. Adjacent cells are interconnected by a hinge pin d and rubber cushions f<SP>1</SP>, f<SP>2</SP> are adapted to abut under the weight of the vehicle and provided additional resilient suspension of the middle cell. The vehicle steering column h passes through the cushions f<SP>1</SP>, f<SP>2</SP> which are formed as rings, the column being tangentially to an arc centred on the pin d. The middle cell A is formed with jacks l, m, which, when they lift the vehicle, cause articulation of the cells about the pins d, the end cells coming to rest when bumpers n, o contact the ground. The suspension means for the wheels on the end cells B, C are so arranged that the wheels swing upwardly in the directions of arrows k.
