Abstract

A rolling front assembly which includes a main load point bearing 2 , to rotate on a specific axis within a given area 3, balance is achieved by the use of free moving runners 4, which operate in that specified area. Control between the front assembly and the bulkhead can be achieved by way of hydraulic rams 5 , located either side of the main load point bearing which will interact with the speed and steering systems applied to the motor vehicle.

Description

I
Rolling Front Assembly Of A Motor Vehicle This invention relates to improving the performance and handling of a motor vehicle.
When a motor vehicle turns into a corner or a bend the pitch of the vehicle is angled towards the opposite side that the vehicle is turning into.
This causes under steer and prevents the vehicle from going round the corner or bend as effective as it could be achieved.
This invention corrects this negative loss into a positive force by reversing this pitching factor, giving positive turning effect therefore reducing the under steer problem.
The invention can also improve its own performance by measuring the speed of the vehicle with respect to the amount of steering applied through the front wheels, then adjust the angle of the front assembly with respect to the front bulkhead. This will compensate for the corner or bend giving greater front end grip on the front wheels for the motor vehicle.
This invention can be applied to a front, middle or rear engine motor vehicle.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 Shows a front view of a motor vehicle bulkhead, with the components in position.
Figure 2 Shows a top view of the front assembly connected to the bulkhead also with the components in position.
In figure 1, the front bulkhead 1 of the motor vehicle through which on the vertical centre line of the bulkhead a main heavy duty bearing 2 is situated, this is the main loading point and provides a connection between the front bulkhead and the front assembly.
This is where the rotation pivots at this point.
Guides 3 are situated on either side of the bulkhead.
These guides give direction of travel for the runners 4.
The runners are fixed to the front assembly but are located in the guides and are allowed to traverse within that area.
These runners are not main load points but share the excess stability load per side of the centre point.
The control of this rotation can be by hydraulics 5, these are linked to electronic sensors measuring the steering and speed of the vehicle.
Figure 2 Shows the same points as figure 1 but from a top view.

Claims (6)

  1. Claims 1. A rotating front assembly of a motor vehicle from the front
    bulkhead.
  2. 2. A rotating front assembly according to claim 1, by way of a main central bearing located on the front bulkhead.
  3. 3. A rotating front assembly according to claim I and 2, to have stabilizing runners one either side of the central bearing on the front bulkhead.
  4. 4. A rotating front assembly according to claim 1, 2 and 3 to have guides to give direction and support the stability of the front assembly.
  5. 5. A rotating front assembly according to claim 1, 2, 3 and 4 but to be controlled by means of hydraulics fixed to the bulkhead at one point, the other end to be connected to the front assembly, at an angle to give most effective movement towards the rotation from the pivot point.
  6. 6. A rotating front assembly according to claim 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 where this system can be placed in any type of motor vehicle regardless of its position of the internal combustion engine and drive mechanisms.
