Abstract
719,557. Vehicle wheels. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and BUTLER, H. J. Sept. 8, 1952 [Oct. 26, 1951], No. 25042/51. Addition to 647,332. Class 144(2) The wheel of the parent Specification having a detachable tyreretaining flange 7 formed by separate arcuate segments 5 detachably secured together, as by bolts 9 through lug pairs 8, and provided with axially spaced circumferential splines fitting in grooves in the wheel rim is made with three or more arcuate segments 5 each having only one spline 10, the splines being received in a single circumferential groove 4 in the wheel rim 1. To prevent circumferential creep, a key 11 is fitted to engage registering slots 12, 14 in one of the arcuate segments and the rim-base respectively. The radius of the arcuate segments is made slightly less than the radius of the wheel rim so as to eliminate play.
