Abstract

A temperature-responsive compensator alloy, having a negative temperature coefficient of permeability, has the following composition Ni 29.25-31.5 per cent., Cr 0.3-2.9 per cent., Si up to 0.5 per cent., Mn up to 1.0 per cent, and the balance Fe together with impurities. The alloy may contain Co up to 3 per cent. replacing a corresponding proportion of Ni. The alloy may be used in magnetic measuring instruments to compensate for variations in the electrical resistance of another element due to variations of temperature (see Group XIX).
