Class 97(1) A kinematographic camera for producing a record affording an illusion of relief undergoes a periodic variation of view point in a vertical direction only. In the form shown light incident on the camera 23 is reflected successively by mirrors, or prisms (which may be roof prisms) 27, 21. 'The former may be adjustable about an axis 29 by a lever 28 while the latter is carried on a base 20 suspended on links 18 from points 19, 30 and oscillated by a crank 55 with pin 54 engaging a transverse slot in the base. The point 30 is adjustable by a screw 31, which may be coupled to the camera focusing mechanism, so that the links are not parallel and the optical axis beyond the reflector 27 remains directed at a single point where the camera is focused. The positions of oscillating and adjustable reflectors may be interchanged. In another embodiment a parallel sided glass block is oscillated in front of the camera about a transverse horizontal axis. Alternatively the incident light may pass through two pairs of prisms in succession the two prisms of each pair being rotated about the optical axis at the same speed in opposite directions. Finally,' diaphragm may be oscillated vertically across the axis of the camera lens.
