782,269. Optical apparatus. CIBIE, P. May 26, 1954 [July 27, 1953], No. 15580/54. Class 97(1) Apparatus for testing the f6cus adjustment of a light projector comprising a centered converging optical system formed of at least one convergent element associated with or constituted by at least one reflecting surface and directing the light from the projector on to an observation screen. As shown light from a headlamp 5a is directed by mirrors 11, 10, 7a on to a projection screen 9a via a lens 8a which form an image on the screen by which the focus adjustment of the lamp 5a may be tested. The mirror 11 may be vertically adjustable parallel to itself to suit lamps at different levels. Alternatively the mirrors 10, 11 may be omitted, the light beam falling directly on to the lens 8a. Alternatively the image on the screen may be formed by a single spherical, parabolic or elliptical mirror placed before the lamp. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 5 a number of coplanar lenses 11a each associated with a mirror 12, 13, 13a form suitable images on a screen 14. Specification 489,685 is referred to.
