Abstract
645,619. Radiolocation. COSSOR, Ltd., A. C., WILLIAMS, B. C. FLEMING-, and JENKINS, J. W. Oct. 10, 1947, No. 27284. [Class 40 (vii)] [Also in Group XX] Apparatus for producing at a viewing point 17 a vertical image of the screen of a plan position indicator 2, which may be of the form described in Specification 609,703, superimposed upon an image of a chart 18 of the area scanned by a radar aerial comprises a lens 7 and hinged mirror 3 mounted in a casing 4, rotatable in bearings 6 about an axis normal to the screen 1, which lies substantially in the focal plane of lens 7. The parallel light from lens 7 passes through a telescope 8 and is directed by a semitransparent reflector 16 to the observer at 17, light from the chart 18 being transmitted by the mirror 16. Telescope 8 is mounted for axial sliding movement in a projection 15 of the casing 4 so that the image of screen 1 may be displaced relative to that of the chart 18. Polarizers 19, 20 are provided to reduce the intensity of the chart image to that of the screen image and a telescope 8 of variable magnification may be used to alter the scale of the screen image relatively to that of the chart image.
