Abstract

612,025. Television. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and ESPLEY, D. C. May 15, 1946, No. 14684. [Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Group XX] An optical arrangement for television and like systems for use with a light source of the kind providing an area of uniform intensity elongated in a vertical direction, e.g: a highpressure mercury vapour lamp 10, comprises two reflecting devices, such as prisms 14, 15, arranged to reflect light from the source successively and in two different directions such that in an image of the source formed by light reflected from the second of the two reflecting devices the elongation is in a substantially horizontal direction. Light incident on the first reflecting device and light reflected by the second reflecting device may be rendered parallel by means of condenser lens systems 12 and 13 respectively. The arrangement described may be employed in the scanning of motion picture film.
