Abstract
715,447. Television pick-up tubes. COMPAGNIE POUR LA FABRICATION DES COMPTEURS ET MATERIEL D'USINES A GAZ. Oct. 6, 1952 [Oct. 5, 1951], No. 24958/52. Class 39(1) The target electrode of a pick-up tube comprises a thin photo-conductive layer provided on the side facing a high velocity scanning beam with a mosaic layer formed of conducting material and on the other side with a conducting signal plate. The mosaic is of magnesium, beryllium or aluminium and it is formed by slow precipitation and afterwards lightly oxidized to increase the secondary emission coefficient. The signal plate may be a continuous metal layer or a metal mesh and the photo-conductive layer is of cadmium sulphide which is responsive to visible light, X-rays and γ-rays.
