Abstract

714,765. Centrifugal compressors. TULlPAN, H. May 31, 1951 [Oct. 1, 1948; July 26, 1949], No. 12999/51. Class 110(1) In a multi-stage centrifugal compressor with transmission gearing between the driving motor and a number of shafts rotating at different speeds, impellers are mounted at each end of the shafts. Shafts 6 and 8, carrying impellers 11, 12 and 15, 16 respectively, are driven at different speeds through gearing 4, 5, 7 by an electric motor tor a steam or diesel engine. Intercoolers 26, 30, 33, and an oil cooler 36 are removably housed in a box-like baseplate 27 " in the same way as in a chest of drawers." A space 38 serves as an oil tank. from which oil is drawn through a pipe 40 by a pump 39. After use, the oil drains by way of a passage 41 to the oil cooler 36 and thence back to the space 38.
