Class 145 (2) A circular saw has unset teeth which are all of the same shape except that the tops of alternate teeth 12 are higher (by about fifteen thousandths of an inch) than the tops of the other teeth 15 and are bevelled on each side at 20. The side surfaces of the saw curve inwards towards the centre to provide clearance in the saw-cut, the curvature being sharpest near the teeth, and the rake on the front faces 21 and 19 of the teeth may vary from 7 degrees of positive rake for cutting soft wood to 2 degrees of negative rake for cutting hard wood or hard plastics. The cutting edges may be formed by tungsten carbide or hard alloy inserts. Radial slots may be provided at intervals between the teeth to allow expansion of the saw due to heat.
