Abstract

904,676. Saws. MONNINGER Ltd., C. D., and WIMMS, C. S. G. April 18, 1961 [May 16, 1960], No. 17185/60. Class 145. Some or all of the teeth 12 of a circular saw blade have inserts 17 of a metal which is hard compared with the metal of the main portion of the saw disposed on their opposite edges, the cutting edges of the respective inserts being so formed that one insert is operative in one direction of rotation of the saw and the other in the opposite direction of rotation. The inserts 17 are accommodated in recesses in the side edges of the teeth and are thicker than the body of the saw. The faces 18, 19 of the inserts on opposite sides of the blade diverge radially outwardly, and the side edges 20 of the two inserts on the same tooth are ground to provide inclined faces 21 which diverge as they extend away from one face of the blade, the inclined faces on adjacent teeth being arranged to diverge in opposite directions. The end face 22 of each insert is also inclined in the same sense as the corresponding face 21.
