Class 145 The teeth of a straight or circular saw have an edge 3 perpendicular to the direction of movement of the saw and an edge 4 sloping back to the root of an adjacent tooth, the transverse surfaces 6 of the edges 3 being normal to the side surfaces 7 of the saw and the edges 4 being bevelled at 5 to provide sharp cutting edges on opposite sides of alternate teeth. The length of the sloping edges 4 is about six times that of the perpendicular edges 3 and, in the case of a circular saw, the edges 4 are tangential to the root circle of the saw.
