Abstract
712,977. Tilting stands for barrels. POWELL, C. F. N. April 2, 1951 [April 6, 1950], No. 8746/50. Class 21 A stand for raismg barrels and the like from a loading to an emptying position comprises a rectangular base movable on wheels 16 and having two inverted U-shaped uprights 2, 3 at two adjacent corners and two single uprights 4, 5 at the remaining corners.' The base carries at one end a pair of projecting members 7, 8 inclined thereto such that the inclination adjacent the base is reduced which are connected by a crosspiece at their outer ends to form a shoe. The four uprights are strengthened by braces 6, 10 and interconnected by a skeleton framework 11, 12 and curved bearers 14, 15 carrying supporting rollers 13. In operation the stand is brought close to an upturned barrel and turned over.to rest in equilibrium on the shoe, on which the barrel is then loaded, after which the stand is restored to its original position in which the barrel is rotatable on the rollers to empty its contents into a bucket placed beneath the skeleton frame.
