Abstract
710,292. Lubricating. LANCASHIRE DYNAMO & CRYPTO Ltd., [formerly LANCASHIRE DYNAMO & CRYPTO (MFG.), Ltd.]. Oct. 20, 1952 [Oct. 19, 1951], No. 24468/51. Class 12(3) In an anti-friction bearing having a substantially horizontal axis, a lubricating device includes a partition between the bearing and a reservoir and arranged for lubricant to pass from the reservoir to the bearing through an orifice in the partition at a lower level and to pass at a higher level through an unobstructed path back to the reservoir, and a stationary mass of porous or percolator material through which the lubricant passes after leaving the reservoir and before reaching the bearing. As shown, an annular partition plate 1 is clamped to one side of a bearing 2 by a flanged cap 4 which with the plate constitutes a reservoir for oil. The plate has an orifice 6 against which is provided a tube 7 containing porous or percolator material 8 packed between metallic mesh discs 9, 10. A ring 11 is interposed between the disc 9 and the plate 1. A similar ring 12 outside the disc 10 is engaged by a split pin 13 passing through apertures in the tube 7. The plate 1 has orifices 1a for return of lubricant from the bearing to the reservoir. Specification 697,797 is referred to.
