Abstract

709,694. Change-speed control. FICHTEL & SACHS AKT.-GES. Oct. 31, 1952, No. 27417/52. Class 80 (2) In a motor-cycle neutral finder, a spring- pressed detent 1, engaging gear and neutral notches 3, 4 in a linearly or rotatably movable gear-shift member 10, pivotally carries a spring- retracted lever 5, operation of which, through a control-cable 7, lifts the detent 1 out of a gearnotch 3 and, by subsequent engagement of its cam-shaped end 8 in one of a series of additional curved notches 9 in the shift-member 10, moves !the latter until an adjacent neutral notch 4 underlies the detent 1 which, on release of the lever-control 7, locks the shifter in neutral. Facially and peripherally notched gear-shift members having concentric members with notches such as 9 are also shown.
